When you join the newsletter
We ask for your email address to send a practical note every week. We'll send a confirmation link first. Your address joins the newsletter after you confirm.
We keep a record of your signup, confirmation and the wording you agreed to. We may also record the page or campaign that brought you here, so we can understand what people find useful. Please don't put confidential work or employee information into the signup form.
When you join the course waitlist
The course link opens an email addressed to Josh. You join by sending that request. We keep your email, request date and the offer you joined under so we can send course updates and honour the founding discount. Opening the link alone does not enrol you. This is separate from the newsletter.
Course requests are forwarded to Josh’s personal Gmail inbox and handled through Gmail. You can leave by replying or emailing the contact address above. If you leave, we stop course updates and keep only the minimum record needed to honour your choice or resolve a question. Please avoid sending confidential employee information.
When you search the Notes and glossary
Search runs in your browser. We do not send your search words to our analytics service. Avoid entering confidential information into search or signup fields.
The services behind it
The website is hosted through OpenAI Sites on Cloudflare infrastructure. Resend manages newsletter contacts and email delivery. These providers process information to operate their services and may process it outside your country.
When you request a free resource
We use your email to send one access link. The link expires after 24 hours. Opening it does not confirm the request. You confirm with a button, then a secure, essential cookie gives that browser download access for seven days. You can request a new link later.
The resource is available without joining an email list. The form has two optional, unticked choices: weekly Notes and occasional updates about resources, courses and mentorship. We record the wording, version, date and your choices. We activate only selected choices after confirmation. Existing opt-outs and delivery suppressions are preserved. If an optional subscription fails, you can still access the resource.
Access requests, verification, email fulfilment receipts and access expiry are stored privately in Cloudflare D1. Download-only personal records are removed during routine cleanup once they are 30 days old. Confirmed marketing consent and suppression records follow the preference-retention policy below. Anonymous daily totals count requests, verified requests and download responses. A served download does not show whether you used the kit. We do not accept uploads or company HR information through this service.
Optional marketing emails include an unsubscribe or preference link. Notes and occasional updates are separate choices. Leaving one does not automatically join or leave the other. A global unsubscribe takes precedence. You can also contact Josh to review either preference. Course-waitlist requests remain separate.
Your choices
Every newsletter includes an unsubscribe link. You can also email me to ask about your information, correct it or request removal. We don't sell the newsletter list or add people from unrelated recruiting or client lists.
What we keep
Unconfirmed requests expire after 24 hours. Routine cleanup removes unconfirmed requests older than 30 days. Confirmed signup records are kept while you subscribe. If you unsubscribe, we retain the minimum preference and consent record needed to honour that choice and handle any questions about the subscription. Contact me if you'd like your records reviewed or removed.
Optional website analytics
If you accept analytics cookies, Google Analytics helps me understand visits, useful pages, newsletter requests and clicks on the proposal or booking links. Google processes browser, device and approximate location information as part of this service, including outside your country. I don't send newsletter email addresses, form answers or email confirmation links to Google Analytics.
Analytics stays off until you accept. Rejecting analytics does not affect the newsletter or booking links. Use Cookie choices at the bottom of the page to change your choice. Rejecting after accepting stops future analytics collection and removes this site's Google Analytics cookies. Your choice is remembered in this browser for up to 180 days. A browser Global Privacy Control signal keeps analytics off.
We measure a limited set of public pages and campaign labels. Newsletter confirmation and unsubscribe pages are excluded. Advertising storage, advertising personalisation and Google signals are disabled. We don't use session recordings or advertising pixels. See Google's privacy policy for information about its processing.
On the Josh directory, analytics can record which destination you choose. If you accept analytics, approved campaign labels can travel with links to SuperHired and Tier 11, helping connect the source of a visit with your next destination. These labels identify a campaign or link, not you.
Resource access and analytics
Resource confirmation and download pages are excluded from Google Analytics and search indexing. Emails, access tokens and HR information are never sent to Analytics. The download-access cookie is needed to fulfil your request and does not depend on optional analytics consent.
Visits and booking
Basic service logs help us keep the site working and limit automated abuse. If you choose a booking link, Calendly explains how it handles your details. A click on that link is not counted as a completed booking. Enquiring about mentorship does not subscribe you to the newsletter.
